Hi
Went shopping in Cambridge on Saturday, complete with walking stick- I was struck by how pleasant and helpful people were. A young man in Costa coffee offered to carry my tray for me (a customer not staff though) and later in the day when I was loaded with bags (serves me right- I always overdo it) on my way to he station, another one stopped to ask if he could help me. I think he was genuine- sadly the cynic in me these days makes me slightly question it! In fact, much of the day, people were stopping to let me through, opening doors for me. I don't usually get this level of consideration when out and about- the walking stick seems to act like a 'rude person magnet'- so it was lovely. Sad though, that what was common courteous behaviour once is so rare that it's unusual. Thanks all you lovely people out there- you've restored my faith in humanity!
